Fresh off a controversial Brits performance alongside Kanye West, Jammer, Krept and Konan, and a who’s who of Grime talent, Skepta’s back with “Shutdown”.
After Drake borrowed a line from Skepta’s ‘That’s Not Me” on track “Used To” which appeared on both Lil Wayne’s mixtape “Sorry 4 The Wait 2” and more recently on his own surprise mixtape “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late”, the BBK MC has returned the favour by sampling Drizzy’s hilarious “Truss mi daddi” Vine from the start of the year.
Whilst satirically sharing Drake’s Vine, “Shutdown” also seemingly addresses a plethora of social issues and seems more suited to addressing the Grime veteran’s recent performance at the Brits.
Skepta spitting “They tried to steal my vision / this ain’t a culture its my religion” is just one of the many heated lines that fuel this song. With a catchy hook to suit, Skepta’s new song leaves more to be anticipated.
The Skepta and Ragz Originale-produced cut will appear on his forthcoming album “Konnichiwa”.
