Watch the emotional tribute to Paul Walker in Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s single “See You Again” from the furious 7 soundtrack
In March, we heard a sleuth of new tracks from the then rapidly approaching release of Furious 7. The rollout included a few posse cuts like “Payback” featuring Juicy J, Kevin Gates, Future and Sage the Gemini and the adrenaline-fueled “Ride Out” that featured Kid Ink, Tyga, Wale, YG and Rich Homie Quan. “Go Hard Or Go Home” was the next to drop and featured Wiz and Iggy Azalea; as can be expected with anything Iggy jumps on, the track was met with mixed reviews, however Wiz had a second bite at the cherry with the Charlie Puth assisted anthem “See You Again”. It was instantly recognisable who this track was about; now as expected it has now become the anthem for a tribute to Paul Walker who, as we know, was tragically killed in a car crash before the completion of Furious 7.
Today the track’s music video has been released and in fitting style it pays homage to the late star. The video is very similar to Paul’s montage at the end of the film to the song, however it additionally splices together clips of Khalifa and Puth’s performances.
Speaking on the track in a recent interview with The Huffington Post, Mike Knobloch, President of Film Music and Publishing at Universal Pictures said:
“To have a song that’s earnest and sincere and could underscore a celebration of Paul’s life. To be an anthem for that. We worked really hard to dial that in,”
Furious 7 is now playing in Theaters and IMAX cinemas around the country.
